Physical data

This course is focussed on data of player and team performance, in terms of what actions to players performs. This leaves out a large area of the game where analytics is also important: physical data. One reason for this choice, is that sport science – which concerns itself with the analysis of physical data – is already a well a well-establised field, while much of what we cover in this course is realtively new to football.

That said, most data scientists working within a club will have responsibility for analysing physical data, either in isolation or in combination with the data presented in this course. Sport scientists
